Do products like eye-liners, mascaras, eye-shadows, etc, cause eye problems?

I use a liquid eyeliner everyday and sometimes it might get into the eye by mistake, etc... of course i take it off as soon as I see it, but I want to know if these products can cause blindness, or other eye problems.Do products like eye-liners, mascaras, eye-shadows, etc, cause eye problems?
Never use outdated eye products that have been lying around for months on end or share your eye make-up, you could get an eye infection. Any product in the US that is marketed for use as cosmetics for the eyes must be proven safe for reasonable use on the eyes.





It is reasonable for women to expect to put these products on, wear them for a day, and wash them off for the night before putting them back on. It is also reasonable to assume that women will protect their eyes from stray materials in a timely fashion.





Assuming you do these things, you will be in no danger for permanent damage to your eye, although some products may be irritating if they do run.





The manufacturers of cosmetics take on a significant legal responsibility when they market these products for use around such vital organs as the eyes. For this reason, they will often make the products especially safe, even in conditions of ';unreasonable use.';





For this reason, it is generally safe to cry in your mascara for hours on end, go swimming, and let the stuff run into your eyes, wear the same makeup for several days, etc. etc. etc.





However, the manufacturers cannot control everything, and there is one situation where certain makeups can become very unsafe:





When you share makeup with someone else, you will often end up sharing whatever bacteria that other person has on their face. Some bacteria can breed, and multiply in the cosmetic products, producing the potential for serious infections, such as pink eye, warts, and eczema.
They can cause problems; however, if you get it in your eye, usually flushing the eye with plenty of water or saline solution will take care of things. If they come in contact with the eye itself and you experience real problems after flushing the eye well, it's not a bad idea to be checked.
